Dear Friends of Bee County Veterans,

American Legion Post & Unit  #274, VFW Post & Auxiliary #9170, Vietnam Veterans & Star of Texas EMS are making plans to hold a fundraiser Bar B Q to rebuild the Bee County Veterans Monument that was destroyed by vandals over 10 years ago.  The monument was dedicated in Veterans Memorial Park on Nov. 11, 1989. This event will be held on August the 11th at 1805 S Washington from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm.  All proceed will be donated to the Veterans Monument Fund.

In order to make this event profitable we are seeking donations of the brisket, sauce, potato salad, beans, pickles, onions, plates, party packs, bread, and other items that will be necessary to prepare & serve the food.   We are planning to prepare food to serve 1,000 plates.  The plates will be sold for $5.00 each and if we are able to obtain all items needed we will be able to donate $5,000.00 to this fund.  Your contribution of these items is needed or a monetary contribution would be greatly appreciated to purchase them.

Estimates to rebuild the monument have been obtained and approximately $10,000.00 will be needed.  Some funds have already been raised and this project will certainly bring us closer to meeting our goal.  Lighting and other means to protect the monument will be put in place.

Monetary contribution can be sent to VFW Post #9170, PO Box 147, Beeville, TX 78104 and earmark your check Monument BBQ.  You may call 318-7324 or 358-1550 to have your contribution picked up or to purchase tickets.  Any and all donations will certainly be appreciated.  Contributions are tax deductible.

This monument was built to honor the men and women of Bee County that served in all branches of the military.  They gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country, thus giving us the freedom that we all have today.  Please be generous and help us show the families of these heroes that they have not been forgotten.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,
Chano Chavazos, Cmdr.
