Old Master Paintings
from the Collection of the Sarah Campbell Blaffer
Foundation
The Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation collection,
housed at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, comprises
more than 150 European paintings from the fourteenth
to the early nineteenth centuries. Highlights of
the collection, including "Old Masters" from the
Netherlands, France, Italy, and England, will be on
view at museum through February 2003. The
Blaffer Foundation, established by Sarah Campbell
Blaffer in 1964, is dedicated to making works of art
available to people throughout Texas by serving as a
"museum without walls." Works from the
collection have been exhibited in many museums and
galleries across Texas, as well as nationally and
internationally.

will lead a tour of his collection at 6:15 pm
Come view highlights from the Visions of the West
collection at the Beeville Art Museum! Equestrian objects
from South Texas such as saddles, spurs, chaps, as well as
Hispanic art from Mexico including 19th-century tin and wood
retablos, religious objects, textiles, murals, and an
elegant collection of sombreros, will be on view from
August 8 to October 16, 2002. Formerly known as the
Torch Collection of Torch Energy Advisors, Incorporated,
Visions is the largest private assembly of early
Texana and fine art, including books, documents, firearms,
maps, and other rare artifacts spanning the history of the
North American West and Texas under the six flags of Texas.
Selected by native Texan J.P. Bryan throughout his 30-year
career in the energy industry, Visions of the West
reflects the rich ethnic mix and geographic diversity of
western North America.

Elizabeth Payne
Paintings
June 1 - July 30, 2002
This exhibition
features approximately 30 works by Elizabeth Payne, including her
still life paintings and watercolors from Costa Rica. Payne, who
received her art education at Hunter College, N.Y., and The San
Francisco Art Institute, has had her work exhibited at galleries
and museums across the country. Her work has also been
included in The Whitney Biennial,
Opens on June 1, 2002. Please join us for a reception for the
artist on Saturday, June 1st, from 2 to 4 in the afternoon.
