PURPOSE OF
FAMILY VISITORS CENTER (FVC)
- To provide a comfortable place to take a break for
members of families coming to visit a loved one who is
incarcerated.
- There is a Christian atmosphere provided by Christian
Volunteers
- Volunteers are from church of various denominations
STAFFED BY:
- Volunteers and funded by donations.
HOW THE FVC WORKS
- No Child care and
no overnight accommodations
- Adults must
accompany children AT ALL TIMES
- You enter the front door and are greeted
by a Host or Hostess
- Drinks and snacks are provided as
available
- Restrooms are available
- Some reading material
- CLOTHING is provided if the clothing you
are wearing is not appropriate for visiting the inmate in
the Unit.
HOURS OF OPERATION
- 8am to 5 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday
- Every weekend.
- (Not open if there is a Lock Down.)
HOW YOU CAN HELP
- Volunteer for to be responsible for a time slot
- As you are able
- On a regular schedule

- Make donation-all donations are tax deductible
- Financial
- Provide supplies: snacks, drinks, clothing, shoes
- Donation are used by visitors and not inmates
WHAT YOU CAN DO and
CANNOT DO
- All TDCJ Rules apply in the Family Visitors Center
- If something is not allowed in the
Unit, it is NOT ALLOWED in the Family Visitors Center
