I would like to send special Congratulations, to my
little sister, Naomi Flores. She recently graduated in
the top 10% of her class, which is a great
accomplishment. I am very proud of her. She is not
only an intelligent young lady but very athletic as
well.
Recently, at the A. C. Jones Sports banquet, her
accomplishments went unrecognized like many other
students. I would like to take the opportunity to
congratulate her for representing her community and
high school at regional finals in track for four
straight years. Her focus has primarily been in
basketball and track. She has worked hard her four
years at A. C. Jones which has been illustrated by the
awards, scholarships, and recognitions she has
received. Congratulations, Naomi, for a job well done
(Norma or Nana- LOL!).
With Love,
Brenda Samudio

Congratulations to Valkena and Aaron Wharton
for giving me a beautiful granddaughter, Emily Zoe
Wharton. Emily Zoe was born on Oct.6 at 11:08
p.m, weighing in at 8 lbs. 1 oz and measuring 19 1/2
inches.
Emily Zoe was due to arrive on Oct. 2, but she was a
very accommodating young lady and waited until everyone
else's schedules were clear. My schedule was
very hectic, what with Fall Fest being planned, but by
the time I received the first phone call at 12:00 noon
on Saturday, the 5K walk/run had been held, my
Market Day vendors were all set up and the parade was
over. So, I was able to leave with a clear
conscience and be in attendance for the birth of my
first granddaughter and last grandchild. I was
privileged to not only be at the hospital, but
standing right there in the room when Emily Zoe made
her appearance into our family. What a
beautiful sight! And she is a very inquisitive young
lady, too, because she was already looking around at
the world she was thrust into, the moment of her
birth.
So, as a proud grandmother for the third time, I want
to say thanks to my children for giving me such a
wonderful grandchild and to Emily Zoe for letting me
be a part of her introduction into our family.
We are all happy to have her with us and hope she will
never regret having us as a part of her life. I
can now enjoy the warmth of a granddaughter's love the
way my mother, Zoe Bond, did with my daughter, Valkena.
I look forward to that.

October 18, 2001 To
Law Enforcement Officer in Skidmore:
Not sure which agency this memo should go to. Did
a search on the web for Skidmore Tx police and all I
get is Beeville county. Any how, please pass on
to appropriate department is possible.
Yesterday was very hard for me, you see my grandmother
past away. As we were in route to Skidmore Texas
(without escort ) we came upon a busy intersection at
359 and 181. It was here at this stop sign, that
a police unit ( local or county, I don't know )
happened to drive up at the right time. He may
not have realize it, but He was a God sent. Ya
there may only have been less then 10 cars, but for
that officer to stop traffic and allow us to safely
proceed through the intersection which allowed all of
us to get to our destination in a timely manner.
I felt so proud of that police officer. That little
bit a courtesy sure can and defiantly went a long way.
Evan in a time of sorrow, He was the first topic of
conversation when we all arrive at the burial site.
My hats off to that officer and his thoughtfulness.
