The Bee County American Legion Unit #274 is asking the support of Bee County citizens to help collect manufacturer Discount coupons for various food & other household items. These coupons will be sent to the American Legion Department of Texas and then will be forwarded to the commissaries located on military bases in Germany, the Azores, Iceland, Japan and England. They will be made available to families of active duty military personnel who are stationed in these countries. Many of these families are on food stamps and/or the WIC program. These coupons will help cut down on the cost of groceries and with the money saved, allow them to purchase other needed items. Citizens across the country are assisting our efforts against the War on Terrorism by contributing money, blood and this project allows everyone the opportunity to assist our military families overseas while they are in defense of our country. Collection boxes are located at Wal Mart, Beeville Publishing Co., Bee County Chamber of Commerce and VFW Post #9170. Other locations will be announced at a later date. Be sure all coupons have expiration dates after 1-30-02. We want to insure the coupons will reach the families in plenty of time to be used by them.
