Your text is a large book filled with
much information. One of the ways to help learn history is to “see the big
picture.” Skimming provides you with the opportunity to see what you will
learn from your book. Skimming is a little bit like looking at a map
before you start a long trip.
Write a “few things” that you
learned or thought or discovered below. Remember, skimming IS NOT READING.
Remember that skimming is not reading every word. However, it does mean
that you look at the main words, pictures, charts, glossary, index, and
